A word from Trixie Koontz >Life is good.

Life is Good!
Trixie Koontz, Dog
Dad teaches me to type. Hold pencil in mouth and type. At first is fun. Then is not fun. He says to me, "Write, Trixie, write. Write essay for website." Being good dog, I write. Not fun, but I write. Expect treat for writing. Get no treat. Stop writing. Get treat. Carob biscuit. Good, good, good. Okay, so I write some more.

Dad promises website visitors my essay end of July. Must give up important ball chasing, important napping, important sniffing to write. Work hard. Writing hard. So many words. Stupid punctuation rules. Hate semicolons. Hate; hate; hate. Chew up many pencils in frustration.

Finish article. Give to Dad. Then I rip guts out of duck. Duck is not real, is Booda duck, stuffed toy. I am gentle dog. Cannot hurt real duck or even cat. But am hell on stuffed toys. Work off my tension. Rip, rip, rip. Feel pretty good. Cough up soggy wad of Booda-duck stuffing. Feel even better.

Dad gives editorial suggestions. Stupid suggestions. Stupid, stupid, stupid! He is not editor, is writer. Like me. I pretend to listen.

Am actually thinking about bacon. Bacon is good. Bacon is very good. I am good, too. People call me "good dog, good, very good." Bacon is very good. I am very good. But I am not bacon. Why not? Mysterious.

Then I think about cats. What is wrong with them? Who do they think they are? What do they want? Who invented them, anyway? Not God, for sure. Maybe Satan? So nervous writing about cats, I use too many italics. Then I hit hateful semicolon key; don't know why; but I do it again; and whimper.

Dogs are not born to write essays. Maybe fiction. Maybe poetry. Not essays. Maybe advertising copy.

Here is my advertising copy: BACON IS VERY GOOD. BUY BACON. BUY LOTS OF BACON. GIVE TO ME. THANK YOU.

Dad gives me editorial notes for study. Eight pages. I pee on them. He gets message.

Dad says he will give my essay to webmaster as is. Webmaster is nice person, nice. She will know good writing when she sees it.

Days pass. Weeks. Chase ball. Chase rabbits. Chase butterfly. Chase Frisbee. Begin to notice sameness in leisure-time activities. Pull tug-toy snake. Pull, pull, pull. Pull tug-toy bone. Pull tug-toy rope. Lick forepaw. Lick other forepaw. Lick a more private place. Still do not taste like bacon. Get belly rub from Mom. Get belly rub from Dad. Mom. Dad. Mom. Dad. Get belly rub from Linda, Dad and Mom's assistant. Get belly rub from Elaine, Dad and Mom's other assistant. Linda. Elaine. Linda. Elaine. Dad. Mom. Get belly rub from Elisa and Paula, housekeepers. Elisa. Paula. Elisa. Paula. Linda. Elaine. Mom. Dad. Belly rub, belly rub. Read Bleak House by Charles Dickens, study the brilliant characterizations, ponder the tragedy of the human condition. New tennis ball. Chase, chase, chase. Suddenly is September.

Webmaster asks where is Trixie essay. Where? Dad lost. Dad got busy working on new book, got busy and forgot Trixie essay, and lost it. My human ate my homework. Sort of.

All my hard work, my struggle, all those hateful semicolons-for what? All for nothing. Essay lost. All for nothing. Feel like character in Bleak House. Worse. Like character in Joseph Conrad book.

Think about getting attorney. Get agent instead. Writing fiction. Novel. Maybe knock Dad off best-seller list. Teach him lesson. Writing novel called My Bacon by Trixie Koontz, Dog. Already have invitation from Larry King, David Letterman, be on shows, do publicity, sell book, get belly rub from Dave. Maybe get limo for media tour. Ride around in limo, chasing cats. Life is good when you're a dog.

- Cop Charged for Leaving Police Dog in Hot Car

OH this is WONDERFUL NEWS!!!
JUSTICE FOR K9 BANDIT...
about time...they are not just animals.

PHOENIX — Authorities arrested a Chandler police officer Wednesday in the death of a police dog that was left in a hot patrol car for more than 12 hours.
Chandler police Sgt. Tom Lovejoy was booked into Maricopa County jail in Phoenix on a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty after a two-week investigation into the death of 5-year-old Belgian Malinois "Bandit."
Click here for more from MyFOXPhoenix.com
Lovejoy was released later Wednesday, said Capt. Paul Chagolla, a spokesman for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
"I am certain Sgt. Lovejoy has suffered greatly from leaving his police dog in a sweltering car," Sheriff Joe Arpaio said in a news release. "I do not relish the idea of compounding his sadness. However, Lovejoy must be treated like anyone else in similar circumstances."
Lovejoy said over the phone Wednesday night that he is scheduled to appear in court on the charge on Sept. 25. He said his lawyer advised him not to comment further.

"With the sheriff railing on me right now, it's kind of hard to say anything," Lovejoy said.
The sheriff's investigation showed Bandit was in Lovejoy's patrol car from about 9 a.m. to a little after 10 p.m. on Aug. 11. During that time, the investigation found that Lovejoy ran errands for his wife, napped for a short time and later ate out with his wife. Lovejoy later found the dead dog in the car.
In a statement, Chandler police Chief Sherry Kiyler said the department respects and supports the criminal justice system and its processes.
"We remain saddened by the loss of K9 Bandit," she wrote. "At this time our internal investigation is continuing and further comment by our department would be inappropriate until the completion of this process."

La gioia non è un tesoro che possiate perdere.
A meno che non, sarete consolati.
Linger lungamente con me come potete scegliere.
Nella musica come nella vita non c'è nessuna gioia fredda.
Undo, allora, il corsetto stretto del vostro dolore in modo che abbiate potuto godere il momento che keening.
Dia l'orecchio a musica, comunque riassunto eloquente,

((Joy is not a treasure you can lose.
Unless you will not, you will be consoled.
Linger with me long as you may choose.
In music as in life no joy is cold.
Undo, then, the tight corset of your grief
So that you might enjoy the moment's keening.
Give ear to music, eloquent though brief,
Restoring to the miracle its meaning.
Of all we think and feel and say and do,
So little, really, must be bound by time.
Still palpable, I'm here with all of you,
Musical as ever in this rhyme.
All I was, I am, and yet will be,
No less in love, although in memory.))

WOMAN'S POEM

Before I lay me down to sleep,
I pray for a man, who's not a creep.
One who's handsome, smart and strong,
One who loves to listen long.
One who thinks before he speaks,
One who'll call, not wait for weeks.
I pray he's gainfully employed,
When I spend his cash, won't be annoyed.
Pulls out my chair and opens my door,
Massages my back and begs to do more.
Oh! Send me a man who'll make love to my mind,
Knows what to answer to "how big is my behind?".

I pray that this man will love me to no end,
And always be my very best friend.

In case you all wonder..
Why I post stuff like this, it is because..
I find the human mind fascinating,
and the degree of "warpitude" by some people is amazing...
Serial killers, psycho-sadists, cannibals, plain evil type folk.
I have studied them, the cases , the motives,
the underlaying causes etc..
It never fails to astonish me ,
how much they become something so "alien" in human society.
It is interesting to see what breaks them, and why.

It is a lifelong hobby of mine,
I think it was fueled by my Dad, he was a criminal Lawyer.
We would discuss cases at the dinner table ,

W.W.X.D?_ What would Xenu do?

ROFLMAO> Xenu

A Belgian prosecutor on Tuesday recommended that the U.S.-based Church of Scientology stand trial for fraud and extortion, following a 10-year investigation that concluded the group should be labeled a criminal organization.
Scientology said it would fight the criminal charges recommended by investigating prosecutor Jean-Claude Van Espen, who said that up to 12 unidentified people should face charges.

Van Espen's probe also concluded that Scientology's Brussels-based Europe office and its Belgian missions conducted unlawful practices in medicine, violated privacy laws and used illegal business contracts, said Lieve Pellens, a spokeswoman at the Federal Prosecutors Office.

"They also face charges of being ... a criminal organization," Pellens said in a telephone interview.
An administrative court will decide whether to press charges against the Scientologists.

In a statement, Scientology's Europe office accused the prosecutor of hounding the organization and said it would contest the charges.
"For the last 10 years, the prosecutor has been using the media, trying to damage the reputation of the Church of Scientology and not being able to put a case in court," Scientology said. "As a consequence, this created a climate of intolerance and discrimination" in Belgium.

It added that the prosecutor's recommendations suggested Scientology was guilty even before a court could hear the charges, making it "difficult for the Church of Scientology to recover and properly defend (itself) before the court."
Scientology has been active in Belgium for nearly three decades. In 2003, it opened an international office near the headquarters of the European Union to lobby for its right to be recognized as an official religious group, a status it does not enjoy in Belgium.

A Belgian parliamentary committee report in 1997 labeled Scientology a sect and investigations were launched into the group's finances and practices, such as the personality tests conducted on new members.

Investigators have spent the past decade trying to determine how far Scientology went in recruiting converts after numerous complaints were filed with police by ex-members alleging they'd been the victims of intimidation and extortion.

Justice officials seized financial records, correspondence, bank statements and other papers in their decade-long probe to track the flow of money to Scientology. Police also raided the offices of several consultancy firms linked to the Church of Scientology.

Pellens said that prosecutors expect Scientology to mount a strong legal challenge to the charges at a court hearing, which could come in the next two to three months. She acknowledged that could delay the case for years.
Belgium, Germany and other European countries have been criticized by the State Department for labeling Scientology as a cult or sect and enacting laws to restrict its operations.

The German government considers Scientology a commercial enterprise that takes advantage of vulnerable people.

The Los Angeles-based Church of Scientology, which is seeking to expand in Europe and be recognized as a legitimate religion, teaches that technology can expand the mind and help solve problems.

The church, founded in 1954, counts actors Tom Cruise and John Travolta among its 10 million members.

- Leona Helmsley Leaves $12M to Her Dog, but Nothing to 2 Grandchildren -

...lucky dog...
Madame Trouble Helmsley...
NEW YORK - Leona Helmsley's dog will continue to live an opulent life, and then be buried alongside her in a mausoleum. But two of Helmsley's grandchildren got nothing from the late luxury hotelier and real estate billionaire's estate.

Helmsley left her beloved white Maltese, named Trouble, a $12 million trust fund, according to her will, which was made public Tuesday in surrogate court.

She also left millions for her brother, Alvin Rosenthal, who was named to care for Trouble in her absence, as well as two of four grandchildren from her late son Jay Panzirer _ so long as they visit their father's grave site once each calendar year.

Otherwise, she wrote, neither will get a penny of the $5 million she left for each.
Helmsley left nothing to two of Jay Panzirer's other children _ Craig and Meegan Panzirer _ for "reasons that are known to them," she wrote.

But no one made out better than Trouble, who once appeared in ads for the Helmsley Hotels, and lived up to her name by biting a housekeeper.

"I direct that when my dog, Trouble, dies, her remains shall be buried next to my remains in the Helmsley mausoleum," Helmsley wrote in her will.
The mausoleum, she ordered, must be "washed or steam-cleaned at least once a year." She left behind $3 million for the upkeep of her final resting place in Westchester County, where she is buried with her husband, Harry Helmsley.

She also left her chauffeur, Nicholas Celea, $100,000.

She ordered that cash from sales of the Helmsley's residences and belongings, reported to be worth billions, be sold and that the money be given to the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust.

Her longtime spokesman, Howard Rubenstein, had no comment.

Helmsley died earlier this month at her Connecticut home. She became known as a symbol of 1980s greed and earned the nickname "the Queen of Mean" after her 1988 indictment and subsequent conviction for tax evasion. One employee had quoted her as snarling, "Only the little people pay taxes."

Poudre

GREELEY, Colo. -

A friendly young antelope found cavorting with a dog along a walking path was probably picked up illegally in Wyoming and may be too tame to return to the wild, wildlife authorities say. A family believed to have brought the animal to Colorado could face charges that carry fines and jail time, said Larry Rogstad, a district officer for the state Division of Wildlife.

The 3-month-old, 15-pound buck was spotted Wednesday morning, running and playing with a neighborhood dog named Skeeter along on the Poudre River trail, a path that runs through Greeley and the nearby town of Windsor.
"It's just the craziest thing I've ever seen," said Ronda Underwood. "We were just riding along the trail and saw this antelope playing with a dog."

She said the antelope came up to her, nuzzled its head and neck along her leg and seemed almost to beg to be petted.
Rogstad was summoned for fear that the antelope would be attacked by the numerous coyotes in the area. The animal, dubbed "Poudre" by passers-by, was taken to a wildlife refuge where handlers will try to get it ready to return to its natural habitat.

Rogstad said that may not work.
"It is totally imprinted now," he said. "The animal actually thinks he's a human."
Rogstad said members of the family believed to have brought the animal from Wyoming could face charges including illegal possession of live wildlife. He declined to name the family.

Wyoming officials could also bring charges, he said.
It wasn't immediately clear why Rogstad believed the animal was brought from Wyoming, about 40 miles north of Greeley. Antelope are found in both states, but the nearest indigenous antelope are about 20 miles from the city.

The Eyes Have It -

Peter McKay Tue Aug 21, 3:00 AM ET
Creators Syndicate -

My wife has beautiful blue eyes. But when we first met in college, she wore glasses so big and thick it looked like she'd cut off the bottoms of two drinking glasses and glued them onto her face. She didn't wear them very often (we never would have gone out) because she had contacts that she wore 90 percent of the time. In that brief period between glasses and contacts at the beginning and end of the day, though, she'd feel her way across the room like she'd lost her seeing-eye dog.

I used to kid her, telling her that her spectacles were so thick and powerful she ought to be able to tell me what was going to happen tomorrow. But her icy stares, magnified by Coke bottles, let me know she didn't appreciate my humor. Over the years I learned that making fun of her glasses was a good way to reserve a spot in the spare bedroom.

Then, a few years ago, my 40s hit me like a freight train with no brakes. My eyes started going, and the newspaper, first the small type and then even the headlines, became blurrier and blurrier. I found myself buying, and losing, reading glasses every time I turned around. In the end, I decided to get fitted for a pair of bifocals, an old-fashioned pair that wrapped around my ears, that I couldn't lose.

Now that I was the four-eyes in the family, it was open season. My wife started calling me "Grandpa" and "Ol' Man," and asked me if I needed her to cut up my food for me. It was particularly aggravating, seeing as I'd held my fire all those years, but to tell you the truth, I was just too old and tired to come up with a decent comeback.

Then, about six months ago, my wife started rubbing her eyes over her morning coffee, squinting at the newspaper and complaining about the lighting in our kitchen. Because I'm a better person than she is, I refrained from any smart aleck comments or zingers, and just told her that she was experiencing exactly what I had gone through a couple of years earlier. I even gently offered to let her borrow my bifocals.

She didn't want to admit that she needed to go to the eye doctor, but she went out and bought herself "Dollar Store" reading glasses by the dozen and stashed them at strategic places around the house. In the mornings before she'd had a chance to put in her contacts, she'd wear her regular glasses with her reading glasses on top and tilt her head back to see. Still, I said hardly a word because I am (if I haven't mentioned it before) the better person.

This past weekend we were in the car, taking an overnight trip, and my wife realized that she'd left all of her reading glasses at home. I offered to turn around, but she refused, saying that while I may need them, she surely didn't.

Before we checked in to our hotel, we stopped by one of those bath and body shops so my wife could get some bubble bath, another thing she'd forgotten to pack.

As she stood in line at the counter waiting to pay, she picked up a sample tube from the display, smelled it and rubbed a big gob of it all over her hands. As the cashier rang up the bubble bath, my wife kept rubbing and finally frowned at me.

"This lotion is too oily," she said. "I don't know how anyone could use it!"
The cashier looked up. "That's because it's hair conditioner, ma'am," she said with a polite smile.

The cashier led my wife over to a sink and allowed her to clean up, while I looked at the label through my Ol' Man bifocals, read it clearly and, being the better person, didn't say anything.

Back at the hotel the next morning, my wife was getting a shower and I was brushing my teeth, when suddenly she pulled the curtain aside and held out a small bottle.
"Can you check the label to see what brand this is," she asked. "This conditioner is not coming out of my hair, and I've been rinsing it forever!"

I put on my bifocals and squinted at the bottle.

"That's because," I said, wishing I weren't such a good person, "this time you actually are using hand lotion!"

- California Family Loses Second Son in Iraq

So Sorry for your loss, my thoughts are with you all.

CLOVIS, California — A California family has lost its second son in Iraq — one of 14 U.S. soldiers killed in a Black Hawk helicopter crash on Wednesday, friends said.
A third son is to return from Iraq, a police spokesman said on behalf of the family.

The family of Spc. Nathan Hubbard, 21, was taking his death "very, very hard," said police spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee. The soldier's father, Jeff Hubbard, is a retired 30-year veteran of the police department.

Nathan's older brother, Marine Lance Cpl. Jared Hubbard, died in a roadside bomb explosion in downtown Ramadi in 2004. A third brother, Jason, will be returning home from Iraq to be with his family, Stoll-Lee said on behalf of the Hubbards.

The helicopter went down during a nighttime mission in the Tamim province that surrounds Kirkuk, an oil-rich city 180 miles north of Baghdad, said Lt. Col. Michael Donnelly, a military spokesman in northern Iraq.

He said facts gathered indicated it was almost certainly due to a mechanical problem and not hostile fire, although the final cause remained under investigation. The military did not immediately release the soldiers' identities pending notification of relatives.

Fast Facts: Deadliest Helicopter Crashes in Iraq Since March 2003
Black Hawk Helicopter Crash Kills 14 U.S. Soldiers in Iraq

Nathan Hubbard was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii, where officials said 10 of the soldiers killed in the crash were based.
Keith Butterfield, a family friend, said the Hubbards were worried for their sons but proud because they knew they were committed to going on behalf of their fallen brother.
"There is nothing anyone can say to make it better, but it's good to know that there are other families that can help you cope," said Butterfield, who became close to the Hubbards after his own son died in Iraq last year. "It's bringing up the feelings of everyone else's loss, but we will be there for them."
Nathan and Jason Hubbard joined the Army together in 2005, shortly after their brother was killed. Their mother, Peggy, told the Fresno Bee newspaper in a 2005 interview that she believed Jason joined in part to protect Nathan after not being there to help Jared.
The brothers said at the time that they didn't worry about dying in the war.
"People are going to be hurt, and people are going to be killed," Nathan Hubbard told the Bee. "That is a reality you have to accept, but not dwell on."

More than 1,000 people watched the 47 four-legged surfers in the second annual Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition to raise money for the resort's Good Neighbor Partners. Winners received hotel packages and dog treats.

Toby, a shih tzu mix, took home first place with Stoli, a black lab, and OB Dude, a basset mix, following closely behind in the first heat. Zoey, a Jack Russell terrier, came in first place and OB Dude and Pogey, a poodle mix, brought home second and third place, respectively, in the second heat of surf dogs and their owners surfing together.

FOXNews.com - Study: Blue-Eyed People 'Smarter' than Brown-Eyed - Health News | Current Health News | Medical News

Baby, those baby blues may be the key to your success, according to a report on News.com.au.

Apparently more than one study by U.S. scientists finds that people with blue eyes just do some things better than those with brown eyes.
But the reverse is true also, said a researcher who authored a paper that looked at three different studies on the subject of eye color and ability.

Light-eyed individuals and even light-eyed animals perform better at behaviors requiring delay, self-pacing, or non-reactors, while dark-eyed individuals and animals perform better at behaviors requiring speed, sensitivity or reactivity, according to a paper authored by University of Louisville professor emeritus Joanne Rowe and e-mailed to Foxnews.com.

Self-paced activities have been defined as those requiring a response made at a time chosen by the respondent when the situation remains relatively static such as bowling, golf, pitching a baseball, or tossing a ball at a target. Reactive activities are those requiring a quick response to a rapidly changing stimulus such as boxing, defensive football position, hitting a baseball, or rotary pursuit.

One study found, for example, that in professional sports light-eyed pitchers performed better than dark-eyed, but for hitters the reverse was true.
Another study found that professional light-eyed white basketball players had higher percentages of free throws, while dark-eyed white players had higher percentages of field goals.

Still, Rowe told Foxnews.com that more study is needed. "There is so much more to a person's make up and their achievements in life," she said.
Another researcher agreed.

"There's no scientific answer yet." Bedfordshire University senior psychology lecturer Dr. Tony Fallone, who has also studied eye color, believed it should be taken more seriously as an indicator of personality and ability, the Daily Mail reported.

I am, I guess, what you’d call an old salty dawg who ran around the Bering Sea and the Gulf of Alaska in the 80’s aboard the US Coast Guard Cutter Jarvis. I’ve lived in California, Hawaii, and Oregon, always near the ocean, it’s a part of me. For any of you salty buggers that would know, I’m a Golden Dragon and a Polar Bear. I live on the Oregon Coast with my bride of 14 years and our two awesome kids. I’ve lived a lot in my 44 years, seen too much, I’m lucky to be alive many times over, and I’m very happy and content to lead a boring life of eating ice cream and mowing the lawn on Saturdays, as everything between 1976 and 1992 was pretty much a reckless life of decadence, booze, drugs, skirts, blackouts, boats, and a life lived on the edge of insanity that only by sheer luck and/or Divine intervention avoided disaster, doom, delirium, and certain death. I’ve been a fisherman, a cook, a door-to-door salesman, a preacher, and a bookstore owner, among other things. I’m just happy to be alive. Each and every day, I’m happy to be alive. I love this country with all of my heart. I am truly grateful to the members of our Armed Forces who have so bravely and most nobly answered the call of duty, and to their friends and family who support them, making many sacrifices as well. Green Day F.o.d. Lyrics

Something's on my mind.

It's been for quite some time.

This time I'm on to you.

So where's the other face?

The face I heard before?

Your headtrip's boring me

Let's nuke the bridge we torched 2,000 times before.

This time we'll blast it all to hell

.I've had this burning in my guts now for so long.

My belly's aching now to say

Stuck down in a rut of dislogic and smut.

A side of you well hid.

When it's all said and done.

It's real and it's been fun.

But was it all real fun?

Let's nuke the bridge we torched 2,000 times before.

This time we'll blast it all to hell.

I've felt this burning in my guts now for so long.

My belly's aching now to say.

Your just a f**k.

I can't explain it 'cause i think you suck.

I'm taking pride, in telling you to f**k off and die.

I've felt this burning in my guts now for so long.

My belly's aching now to sing.

I'm taking pleasure in the doubts,

I've passed to you.

So listen up 'cause you might miss it...

You're just... a f**k,

I can't explain it 'cause I think you suck.

I'm taking pride,

in telling you to f**k off and die.

Goood niiiiiiiiight....

K-9 dog dies after being left in hot patrol car

Poor Bandit, sweet boy :(

Eugene Scott
The Arizona Republic
Aug. 13, 2007 04:59 PM

A Chandler police dog that died after his handler left him unattended in a hot patrol car was in the vehicle more than 12 hours before being discovered.

Sgt. Tom Lovejoy discovered the body of Bandit, his 5-year-old Belgian Malinois, about 10 p.m. Saturday night. He parked the car at his home about 9:15 a.m. that day after working an extra duty assignment early Saturday morning, police said.

"When he arrived home, (Lovejoy) was out of his routine. And while getting mixed up in everyday stuff, he forgot about the car," said Sgt. Rick Griner, a Chandler police spokesman.

Griner said that shortly after entering his home, Lovejoy was told his teenage son had been in a car accident and the car was totaled.

Griner did not have information on whether Lovejoy's son was injured, but said the car accident may have distracted Lovejoy - head of the department's K-9 unit - and caused him to forget his dog, who would not have normally been with him on the extra duty shift. The decision was made to include the dog on Lovejoy's patrol given several recent high profile incidents, including the Chandler serial rapist case.

A preliminary investigation shows the dog, who was with the department more than four years, died from extreme heat. This incident is under investigation and will be handled internally, Griner said.

Lovejoy, a 15-year veteran, was not put on leave and returned to work Monday. Griner said no disciplinary action has been taken and will not happen unless an investigation determines the actions were reckless or intentional.

"This is his worst punishment right now. He's very emotional," Griner said. "This incident was because of negligence; by accident."

Russ Hess, executive director of the United States Police Canine Association, said an investigation needed to be completed, but added, "there's no excuse. There sure is a lack of judgment there."

Griner said Lovejoy's family is taking Bandit's death hard. The dog lived with the Lovejoys the entire time he was with the department.

While police dogs that die in the line of duty are usually given high-profile funerals, Griner said the department will likely have a private, memorial service for Bandit.

Two other Valley police departments also lost K-9 earlier this year - one in a similar incident.

In March, a Phoenix police dog was rushed to a veterinarian after being left in an unmarked police vehicle without ventilation. Authorities said the car was idling at the time, but the air-conditioning may have malfunctioned.

The handler and clinic employees decided to euthanize Top, a 5-year-old black Labrador, the following day.

The same month the Mesa Police Department had a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois die while the dog was chasing a suspect after the dog was struck by a vehicle on Main Street near Lindsay Road.

Buddhist - Share the Love with Pets

Animals are regarded in Buddhist belief as sentient beings. In this religion all life forms are sacred. Animals may have very different minds from humans but they are just as capable of suffering and many other feelings. Animals and pets are also looked upon slightly differently than in many other religions because of the doctrine of rebirth. The belief is that a person could be reborn as an animal, and an animal could be reborn as a person.

In Australia last year, a Tibetan Buddhist master came to help family pets on the path to enlightenment. This may sound laughable (or like a great idea to PetCrazy people), but many Buddhists feel very strongly about animals deserving Buddhist rights and treatment. Care for all living things is a central tenet of Buddhism. So Lama Zopa Rinpoche, a Buddhist master taught by the Dalai Lama, blessed about 100 cats, dogs, even mice and mudcrabs.

Animals don't have as many opportunities as humans to attain happiness," said Lama Zopa. The master feels that animal blessings are a way for Buddhists to create compassion and amass merit. Basically, loving animals is good for the soul. There are stories of dogs arriving regularly at the Buddhist temple being treated as spirits wishing to embrace the religion. After all, they have expressed a desire to partake in the ceremony and may have the opportunity to do the same on two legs in another life.

Lama Zopa advises pet owners to not only give their pets creature comforts, but expose them to holy objects, recite prayers to them and bless their food. In Thailand's capital, Bangkok, they've gone one step further and begun offering Buddhist funeral rites to pets. This brings great comfort to Buddhists who have lost their beloved pets. Why not? There are many who believe that dogs are the perfect example of Buddhism.

Dogs live entirely in the moment. They have a limited memory of the past and don’t seem to spend much time pondering future. To a dog only the now is important, the love that surrounds them, the pleasure in a meal or a game of fetch. Some people argue there is much to learn about proper living from a dog. So perhaps Buddhism is one of these things.

Many Buddhists also enjoy cats. Take for example the Maneki Neko ("beckoning cat") is a common lucky charm in Japan. You will see the Maneki Neko in shop windows where it sits with its paw raised and bent, as if beckoning customers to come inside. There are myriad superstitions regarding cats in Japan. Some Japanese believe that when a cat washes its face and paws in the genkan (parlor), company's coming.

Of course in most cultures and religions what all PetCrazy people share is love for their pets and a desire to enjoy their company, while giving them a wonderful life. Maybe you can share some of the Buddhist’s deep respect for animals with your pet as well. And if you’re Buddhist, maybe your pet can help remind you of your best qualities.

The Time has come...

I received a phone call this morning,
at 8:14 central time from my sister..
The Battle was over.
My Aunt had just died...

Before the phone call ,
I was still asleep- I was dreaming of her (my aunt) ,
we were in a large old house and walking around in it .
I felt a presence and was turning to walk out the front door when the phone rang..

Anybody want to decipher that...I can't think right now...

Her suffering has ended ,
it was quite horrible the amount of pain she had...
**pancreatic cancer**

I'm very glad she is free now,
I hope she is with My Dad, and All the rest of the Family,
Hugging and talking, having a nice big back yard Picnic or something....

That's the way I want to think of it anyway...
