Motorist Injured by Flying Frozen Sausage

Apr 18, 6:32 PM (ET)

LONDON (AP) - A British motorist, driving home from work with his car window wound down, had his nose broken by a flying frozen sausage, an official said Monday.

The 46-year-old man was driving near his home in South Woodham Ferrers, Essex, east of London, when the sausage came through the window and hit him on the nose, a spokesman for the Essex Ambulance Service said on condition of anonymity.

"The man said he was making his way home after work and had the window down because it was such a nice afternoon," the ambulance spokesman said.

"He said he saw a car coming the other way and felt a searing pain in his nose.

"His nose was undoubtedly fractured and he had lost quite a lot of blood.

"It must have been an incredibly lucky, or unlucky, shot to get the sausage through a moving car window. I have never seen or heard of anything like this before."

Essex police said they were investigating the incident

Amateur video purportedly shows 'huge' Bigfoot

Ok People here is your weird canadian link of the day...this is becoming a regular thing.....:sigh...

NORWAY HOUSE, Man. - Is Bigfoot walking the bush around a remote community in northern Manitoba?

Residents have been flocking to Georgina Henry's house to watch two minutes and 49 seconds of video shot by her son, Bobby Clarke, on the banks of the Nelson River shortly after dawn Saturday morning.

"It's pictures of Bigfoot," she said. "It's black and it's big. Oh god, it's huge - seven or eight feet high," Henry said. "We can see him walking, and then turning to look at him (Clarke).

Clarke said he was on duty at his job as a car ferry operator when he saw a "big, black figure" on the opposite bank, about 250 to 300 metres away. He grabbed his camcorder, which he said he always has with him.

"It was just massive, standing tall. I'm freaked out," Clarke said Monday in an interview from the ferry at an uninhabited bush area 40 kilometres from Norway House.

He said he's been nervous ever since, especially when he takes the ferry to that side of the river.

He said the creature walked upright on two legs back into the bush, barely 200 metres away from the ferry dock.

The bush comes right up to the dock, he said.

Clarke's wife, Winnie, agreed he was shaken by the experience.

"Elders say it's a blessing, it's a spiritual sign if people see it," she said.

She said she has been hearing from people who had seen Bigfoot themselves, but lacked evidence.

"Now that he's got this video, there's a lot of trappers and fishers out there, they've seen the tracks over the years."

Several people have been talking about taking a boat over to look for tracks, but Clarke said he wasn't very anxious to join them.

Archaeologists Find Ancient Egyptian Tomb

CAIRO, Egypt - Archaeologists digging in a 5,600-year-old funeral site in southern Egypt unearthed seven corpses believed to date to the era, as well as an intact figure of a cow's head carved from flint.

The American-Egyptian excavation team made the discoveries in what they described as the largest funerary complex ever found that dates to the elusive five millenia-old Predynastic era, Egypt's Supreme Council of antiquities said Wednesday.

"This is a major discovery, and will add greatly to our knowledge of the period when Egypt was first becoming a nation," said Zahi Hawass, Egypt's Chief archaeologist.

In the area of Kom El-Ahmar, known in antiquity as Hierakonpolis, some 370 miles south of Cairo, the team working for five years in the area excavated a complex thought to belong to a ruler of the ancient city who reigned around 3600 B.C.

The find is significant because little is known about the early phase of Predynastic period. That era predates the unification of upper and lower Egypt that triggered the well-known Dynastic era, when ancient Egypt's pharaohs ruled

Little remains from the Predynastic period. Objects that have survived are either in bad shape or have been smuggled out of the country.

The grave sites at Kom El-Ahmar appear to date to the early Naqada II era, a time when the settlement at Hierakonpolis was at its peak and the city was the largest urban center on the Nile.

The complex, which is enclosed in a well-preserved wall of wooden posts, consists of a large rectangular tomb covered with the earliest known superstructure.

Against the enclosure wall in an ash-laden deposit, excavators came across a complete figurine of a cow head carved from flint. Diggers found a flint figure of an ibex in the same tomb, now on display in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

Hawass said Egyptian flint figurines are extremely rare. Only 50 have been discovered to date. He said the uncovering two fine examples in one site is a stroke of luck.

Excavators also found 46 limestone fragments from Egypt's earliest life-size human statue, along with fragments of two ceramic funerary masks and a collection of fine pots that point to the date of the complex.

Although the tomb and its surroundings were severely plundered in antiquity, excavators unearthed four bodies at one end of the tomb. The position of the corpses suggests that they may belong to sacrificed servants or prisoners who were buried at the foot of the grave, a common practice in the first Dynasty, Hawass said.

A second tomb housed well-preserved remains of three adults as well as textile and padding used to wrap the corpses before covering them with thick matting.

Eight deep post-holes, four on each side, were found at the longest side of the burial chamber, three of which still bear remains of the ancient wooden posts. Six more post-holes to the east, in two rows, suggest the presence of an offering chapel.

A deposit of burnt ostrich eggshell found at the site is thought to convey the desire to magically ensure rebirth.

Excavations at the site started in 2000 under the leadership of famed Egyptologist Barbara Adams, who died in 2002. The work continues under Renee Friedman, the current head of the American team.

Scientists Find T.rex Relative in Georgia

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Paleontologists have identified a new dinosaur species, an early relative of Tyrannosaurus rex that probably roamed what is now the Southeastern United States about 77 million years ago.

The scientists made the identification from hundreds of fossilized fragments collected mostly in Montgomery County, Ala., and southwestern Georgia.

They named the new dinosaur Appalachiosaurus montgomeriensis, which means "the Appalachian lizard from Montgomery County." The 25-foot-long creature roamed the earth 10 million years before T. rex and was smaller and more primitive, with a narrower snout.

David R. Schwimmer of Columbus State University; Thomas Carr of Carthage College of Kenosha, Wis.; and Thomas Williamson of the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science were credited with the discovery when the dinosaur's name was recognized by the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology.

"We've been finding teeth and odd bones from this animal for 20 years, and it's nice to finally have a name for it," Schwimmer said.

The researchers said Appalachiosaurus montgomeriensis was buried in mud at the bottom of a shallow sea about 77.8 million years ago, after currents carried it away from shore.

Trial Date Set in Letterman Son's Case

Ok since this Happened in Montana I felt that I should post it....No Offense , Just don't like Letterman, We watch JAY LENO, and then CONAN O'BRIEN :)

CHOTEAU, Mont. - A state judge set a tentative trial date for the man accused of plotting to kidnap the toddler son of "Late Show" host David Letterman.

Kelly Frank is scheduled to go on trial July 18 on charges of soliciting to kidnap, theft and obstruction. He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Frank, a painter who had been hired to do work on Letterman's ranch in north-central Montana, was arrested in March after an acquaintance told investigators he had planned to kidnap the talk-show host's son, Harry Joseph, and the child's nanny and hold them for $5 million ransom.

On Tuesday, he entered an additional not guilty plea to a second charge of soliciting to kidnap — this charge involving the nanny.

Frank remains jailed on $650,000 bail.

Harry Joseph is the son of Letterman and his girlfriend, Regina Lasko. They were not at their Montana ranch at the time authorities said they uncovered the plot.

Bo Bice Rocks 'American Idol' Judges

By LYNN ELBER, AP Television Writer

LOS ANGELES - "American Idol" contestant Bo Bice rocked out with the 1970s tune "Vehicle" and the three judges were unanimous in their praise.

"This was the only authentically good performance of the evening," Simon Cowell declared Tuesday on Fox's talent competition.

"Right on the money, baby," Randy Jackson said, while Paula Abdul declared "the competition is back on."

The race is getting tighter, with just seven singers left in the running for the fourth "American Idol" title and a record contract. Several, like Bice, were at their best and no one made a serious flub.

Viewers decide which one gets voted off each Wednesday, but the judges' comments have the potential to sway the outcome.

Carrie Underwood's performance of "MacArthur Park" was so impeccable that Jackson deemed it "an unbelievable vocal" and called her one of the contest's best singers.

Cowell was reduced to criticizing her amped-up hairstyle and cocktail dress as uninspired. "It's like Barbie meets the Stepford wives," he said.

The bubbly Vonzell Solomon, the other woman left in the contest, drew kudos. "I'm Every Woman" was her choice to fit the night's theme of '70s dance classics.

She picked the song "with the highest degree of difficulty" and worked it out, Jackson said. She was "right on the edge vocally," Cowell said, but her personality carried the day.

(Unless otherwise mentioned, assume Abdul offered some manner of effusive praise. Also assume that the camera showed at least one Paula-is-dancing-again shot during each song.)

Constantine Maroulis evoked a lukewarm response with "Nights on Broadway." Jackson compared it to a Las Vegas act and questioned his originality — something Cowell's critique also lacked.

"I think the performance was akin to a waiter in a ghastly Spanish nightclub," Cowell said, candidly admitting he may have used the colorful analogy before.

"I'll take that job in Vegas any day," an unfazed Maroulis replied.

Scott Savol's version of "Everlasting Love" was labeled "hot" by Jackson but struck Cowell as the sort of performance managed by an ordinary guy in a karaoke bar.

"September" was Anwar Robinson's choice and Jackson called it "the bomb" after a pitchy start. "I don't think it was a winning performance," countered Cowell.

Fresh-scrubbed Anthony Fedorov, at 19 the youngest contestant, sang "Don't Take Away the Music" and carried away compliments from two judges — and one harsher verdict: "It was pleasant, safe and a little insipid," Cowell said.

"I'll take it," Fedorov said.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) - Police in a Vancouver suburb issued an unusual warning to drivers on Monday: If you run out fuel, do not lay down on the road to get assistance.

Police were alerted to a man's body laying along the Trans Canada Highway in the predawn darkness only to discover he was "quite alive," but that his car had run out of gas and he "wanted to attract someone's attention."

"Guess it worked, but police don't really recommend this method," the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Burnaby, British Columbia, said in a press release.

The man's car was towed, but no charges were filed
